Choosing a safe all-purpose cleaner
Everyone has a favorite all-purpose cleaner. And now, “green” and “safe” versions are in almost every store. Unfortunately, many of these “eco-friendly” cleaners have fragrances and petroleum-derived ingredients that research shows are dangerous. One study shows that daily exposure to all-purpose cleaners can, over time, have the same impact as smoking a pack of cigarettes every day!
So, what should you look for in an all-purpose cleaner?
When looking for a safe all-purpose cleaner, look for
A surfactant or soap (like castile soap)
White vinegar
Essential oils listed specifically (instead of as a fragrance)
A coconut-derived cleaner (like sodium laurel sulfate)
Here are some of my favorites!
Aunt Fanny’s (warning, all of Aunt Fanny’s products have a strong vinegar smell if that bothers you)
Or, you can learn to make your own!
