Red flags for Postpartum Healing

Not sure what’s normal and what’s not while recovering from childbirth? Here are red flags to watch out for during postpartum.

Red flags

You should call your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms.

  • You should expect postpartum bleeding, but if you are soaking through more than one large pad in an hour, that is a red flag.

  • You will pass blood clots, but you should not see blood clots that are larger than a golf ball.

  • You should not have red, hot, swollen areas of your body that are painful or sensitive to touch.

  • You should not have persistent headaches or blurry vision.

  • You should not have a high grade fever.

Hi! I'm Gigi; I'm a postpartum doula, mother to three toddlers, including twins, and a wife to my high school sweetheart.

I help families get the tools they need to prepare, so once baby arrives, they can focus on resting and bonding instead of researching or stressing. I’m here to streamline the newborn learning curve and help birth parents, partners, and other family members. There isn’t ONE way to have and raise a little human. I’m here to guide parents to find THEIR way so that they can thrive in the fourth trimester and beyond.
