How to Pay for a Doula
Add a doula to your registry
Most registries have the option for a customized item. (Learn how to add a doula to your Babylist registry here.) Add fewer baby clothes, and ask friends, family, and coworkers to help you pay for your doula!
You can also use a registry like BeHerVillage. This amazing registry allows you to register for services like doulas, house cleaning, lactation consultants, and childbirth education.
Use your HSA / FSA / Insurance
If you have an HSA or FSA, this can be used for your doula! And, more and more, insurance companies are reimbursing clients for things like lactation consultants and postpartum doulas. Speak with your doula about giving you a letter to submit to your insurance company.
Use a payment plan
Ask your doula if they are able to customize a payment plan (or package) for you. While I have basic postpartum doula support packages, I often change the hours and extend the payment plan to accommodate my clients.
Now, you have multiple ways to afford a birth or postpartum doula!
