Top five herbs for pregnancy and postpartum
In this episode, Lauren and I discuss
What are your five favorite herbs for pregnancy and postpartum?
Nettle, red raspberry, oat straw, shatavari, and ashwaganda
These are great because they do not have contra-indications (so they won’t mix poorly with other medications or conditions)
How can they be used?
During pregnancy, nettle and red raspberry can be great. Red raspberry is best for third trimester. It can be an infusion or a tea.
For lactation, oat straw is very beneficial. Oat straw can also support the nervous system.
Ashwaganda and shitavari are great for postpartum. They support the nervous system and hormones. They are also good for lactation.
How can we use herbs to support lactation?

On top of oat straw, ashwaganda, and shitavari, fennel can be added to food or tea.
