Preparing your body to conceive

As we head into a new year, you might see planning for a baby on the horizon. If so, here are tips for preparing your mind and body to conceive.

  1. Start taking a good quality prenatal vitamin.

This is an easy one. Get off any form of birth control and begin taking a prenatal vitamin with folate, choline, DHA, iron, B12, and more.

  2. Start tracking your cycles

Get comfortable with your cycle. Learn about the different phases of your cycle and how to tell when you’re in your luteal phase.

  3. Reduce sugar / caffeine / drugs / alcohol

These products affect your hormones. So reducing them will prevent hormone imbalances, which affect fertility.

  4. Eat healthy fats

While trying to conceive, you should not be on any restrictive diet. You should eat whole foods as much as possible. One way to do this is with full fats, like avocados, walnuts, yogurt, and salmon) because they positively impact fertility.

  5. Clear out your products

Products for your personal care and cleaning can have a huge impact on your hormones. To learn more about reducing toxins, look at these posts.

  6. Reduce stress

I’m definitely not here to say, “relax and it’ll happen.” However, stress has been found to delay ovulation and affect cervical fluid, which impacts fertility.

I’m here to guide parents to find THEIR way so that they can thrive in the fourth trimester and beyond.
