No one told me about: heartburn

heartburn and pregnancy.jpg

if you’re having a hot, burning pain in your upper abdomen, you might have heartburn. this is a really common symptom during pregnancy, especially in the third trimester.

heartburn can happen for a few reasons: first, during pregnancy, progesterone relaxes your body to make room for baby to grow but can also cause heartburn. second, as your baby gets bigger, there is limited space, so large meals or certain types of food or drink aren’t digested the same way as before. read on to learn a few tricks to treat heartburn.

what to do to alleviate heartburn?

  1. eat smaller meals, more frequently throughout the day.

  2. avoid drinking liquids while eating; instead drink between meals.

  3. take a daily probiotic or eat food with probiotics.

  4. avoid spicy, oily, or acidic food.

  5. stay upright after eating.

As a former teacher, I bring realistic, evidence-based, and actionable advice (and LOTS of handouts.) I help families get all the tools they need to prepare, so once baby arrives, they can focus on resting and bonding instead of researching or stressing. I’m here to streamline the newborn learning curve and help birth parents, partners, and other family members. There isn’t ONE way to have and raise a little human.
